Established in 2001, Promethean Press is a small press publisher of books on a variety of topics, including sports, history, and philosophy. Promethean Press’ noted authors include Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Will Durant and philosopher Bertrand Russell.
Promethean Press’ motto is the “Otium Sine Litteris mors est et hominis vivi sepultura,” which is latin for “Leisure without literature is death and burial for a living man.” The company prides itself on its eclectic catalog and its ability to take risks with new talent. In addition, Promethean Press is interested in the preservation of historic books that have niche market appeal, as evidenced by our well-received “Dragon Library” series of deluxe editions of Nineteenth and early Twentieth Century boxing books.
Promethean Press plans to expand in 2017, moving into psychology market with our new “Successful Counseling Interventions” series as well as the academic market with a number of new titles.
